What is all this?
We ran a
Posters/Wall Art Graffiti contest in which artists agreed to have their winning entries made available as high quality prints. Recently we added a small number of new Graffiti to the store as well.
More generally, artists on Graffiti have taken the Graffiti app to such an amazing level that we had to get some of them on people's walls.
The prints are
super high quality. They look great on the wall (we have them hanging all over our apartment) and they make for a great story because they were all made with such a simple application.
Were these really all drawn using Graffiti?
Yes. Pretty amazing huh?
You mean like, Graffiti on Facebook? The really simple application with only color, width, and opacity?
Yep!
I don't believe you.
There's proof: you can watch a line-by-line replay of how any of these Graffiti were drawn. Just click on one of the prints and then click the "Replay" button underneath.
Hang on a second... if the Graffiti were drawn on a small canvas in the application, aren't these prints going to be really blurry and pixelated?
Nope! Since we store every single line for the Replay, we can also enlarge the Graffiti to any size we want... in this case 220 megapixels. You can read more on the
Print Quality page.
Did the artists give you permission to do this?
Yes. We will never sell or use anyone's work without their permission. Artists retain the full copyright to their work &mdash we just get permission to print them. Also, artists are paid for the use of their work. This is similar to how the popular t-shirt site Threadless.com works, except on a much smaller scale.
How can I get my Graffiti in the store?
Right now we only have a small handfull of graffiti available, which we selected to represent a wide variety of styles and a range of artists from well-known to less well-known. If the Graffiti Art Print store works out, we hope to gradually add more and more Graffiti for sale. For now, we're doing this by contacting artists directly and asking them if they would like to participate, but eventually we might have a better system.
Can I get one of my own Graffiti printed?
This is a very popular request, and we'd really like to be able to do this at some point. It's a bit tricky to set up though... there are a lot of Graffiti out there!
How big are the Huge prints?
They're 36" x 17". That's 3 feet wide. You can see a picture at the bottom of the
Print Quality page.
How big are the Standard prints?
They're 17" x 8". We'll put up a photo soon like we did for the Huge prints, but you can get an idea by looking at the little image in the upper-right corner of the front page.
What's a Limited Edition print?
Limited Edition prints are signed by the artist, printed on matte cotton silver rag paper (which looks amazing), and are available in very limited quantity. They are expensive, but for Limited Edition prints we give the artist the majority of the selling price.
Do you accept international orders?
Yes! This is a new feature, so let us know if you have any trouble.
How are the prints shipped?
We ship via First Class Mail, which should take about 3-5 days. We roll them in paper to prevent them getting scratched, and then place them in very sturdy poster tubes.
What happens if my poster arrives damaged?
Please contact us using the
contact form so we can work on sending you a free replacement.
Who owns the rights to these Graffiti now?
The original artists still own the full copyright to their work, but they're allowing us to print them here.
I still have a question
Contact us! One us (Tim, Mark, or Ted) will get back to you ASAP.
